The Posso Sports Eritrean men's team caused an upset of favorites in their first ever Bolder Boulder appearance, taking the international team challenge win over favorite Ethiopia and Team USA. The win was led by a fine individual win by Afewerki Berhane, barely 18 years old, and in his second-ever road race in the USA, defeating Kenyan Allan Kiprono by 2 seconds, 29:12 to 29:14. The rest of the winning team was Samson Gebreyohannes in 5th place and Kiflom Sium in 10th. The Eritrean women's team also had a good day, led by Nazret Weldu in 9th place, Letekidan Gebreaman in 10th and Luula Berhane in 15th, good enough for 4th place in the international team's challenge.
