Close finishes marked both the men's and women's races at the Lima42k marathon. On the men's side, Simon Kariuki of Kenya prevailed in 2:13:43 with a long kick over Dino Sefir of Ethiopia who recorded 2:14:01 while third went to Paul Maina Theuri of Kenya with 2:15:45. The women's race was claimed by Gladys Jebet Ruto of Kenya in 2:46:25 from Peruvian Gladys Machacuay, 2:46:41 and American Atalelech Asfaw, 2:50:59.
