Young-cho Hwang became the first athlete to win an Olympic Medal while representing Korea when he claimed Gold at Barcelona in 1992.

Now retired from active competitions, Hwang’s short career had many highlights. He was World University Games Marathon Champion in 1991, second at Beppu–Oita in 1992 (with a National Record 2:08:47), first in the Asian Games Marathon in 1994 and then 4th at Boston that year (lowering his own National Record to 2:08:09).

Hwang currently is the Head Coach for the Seoul Olympic Sports Promotion Foundation team.
